The tafsīr in brief

Indeed, in the heavens and the earth are signs for the believers. And in the creation of yourselves and what He disperses of moving creatures are signs for people who are certain in faith. And in the alternation of night and day, and what Allah sends down from the sky of provision, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness, and the directing of the winds, are signs for a people who use reason. These are the verses of Allah which We recite to you in truth, so in what statement after Allah and His signs will they believe?

• Approach the Qur’an as guidance to receive and follow, not merely words to hear: its opening identifies its divine source, and its closing challenge calls for belief.
• Make reflection personal. Look not only at the vast heavens and earth, but also at your own creation and the living creatures around you.
• Let familiar weather renew gratitude. Rain and winds are not just background events; they are among the means through which Allah sustains life.
• When you see dry ground return to life, remember Allah’s ability to raise the dead. Let this visible sign strengthen confidence in resurrection.

Woe to every sinful liar who hears the verses of Allah recited to him, then persists arrogantly as if he had not heard them; so give him tidings of a painful punishment. And when he learns anything of Our verses, he takes them in ridicule; those will have a humiliating punishment. Ahead of them is Hell, and what they have earned will not avail them, nor will the protectors they had taken besides Allah. For them is a great punishment. This [Qur'an] is guidance, and those who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord will have a painful punishment of foul nature.

• Do not let dishonesty and pride become settled habits. When revelation challenges you, examine your response rather than carrying on unchanged.
• Treat Allah’s verses with respect in speech and discussion. Ridicule is not harmless disagreement; it adds deliberate derision to rejection.
• Do not mistake possessions or powerful allies for protection from accountability before Allah.
• Approach the Qur’an as guidance to respond to, rather than a message to dismiss when it challenges your preferences.

It is Allah who has made the sea to serve you so ships may sail through it by His command, and so you may seek of His bounty, and that you might be grateful. And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth - all from Him. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. Tell those who believe to forgive those who do not expect the days of Allah, so that He may repay a people for what they used to earn. Whoever does righteousness, it is for himself; and whoever does evil, it is against it. Then to your Lord you will be returned.

• Let ordinary provisions become reminders of Allah’s generosity: think about the sea and other parts of creation through which those benefits reach you.
• Move beyond noticing what creation provides to reflecting on its source. Its usefulness points to Allah’s favour, not human independence from Him.
• When provoked, do not mistake forgiveness for the disappearance of justice. Leave final repayment to Allah while taking responsibility for your own response.
• Before choosing an action, remember that its moral consequences return to you and that you will return to your Lord.

And We certainly gave the Children of Israel the Scripture, judgement, and prophethood, and provided them with good things, and preferred them over the worlds. And We gave them clear proofs of the matter [of religion], and they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them, out of insolent envy between themselves. Then We put you [O Muḥammad] on an ordained way (sharīʿah) concerning the matter [of religion], so follow it and do not follow the desires of those who do not know.

• Treat religious knowledge as a responsibility, not a guarantee of right conduct. Receiving guidance does not remove the need to resist envy.
• When disagreement becomes personal, examine rivalry in your own motives and remember that Allah will judge justly.
• Judge religious advice by sound revealed knowledge, not by how confidently or loudly someone presents it.
• Do not trade obedience to Allah for the reassurance of a group's support. Seek His protection through mindfulness of Him.

This [Qur'an] is insight for the people, and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain in faith. Or do those who commit evil deeds think We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds, equal in their life and their death? Evil is what they judge. And Allah created the heavens and earth in truth, and so that every soul may be repaid for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.

• Approach the Qur’an ready to be guided, not merely informed. Let conviction shape how you receive and act on its teaching.
• Do not excuse wrongdoing by assuming that choices make no difference before Allah. Join belief with righteous action.
• Take responsibility for your own deeds while trusting that Allah’s repayment will contain no injustice.
• When your preferred conclusion conflicts with revelation, let the Qur’an correct your judgment rather than making your wishes the measure of justice.

Have you seen he who has taken as his god his own desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge and sealed his hearing and his heart and put a cover over his sight? So who will guide him after Allah? Then will you not be reminded? And they say, 'There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us but time.' And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming. Say, 'It is Allah who gives you life, then causes you to die; then He will assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt.'

• Before deciding what is right, ask whether guidance is shaping your judgement or whether your preferences are setting the standard.
• Do not mistake a confident explanation of life and death for knowledge. Examine what actually supports the claim.
• Engage honestly with the evidence before you instead of using a demand of your own to avoid considering it.
• Let the certainty of returning to Allāh shape present choices, rather than living as though immediate satisfaction were all that matters.

And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and the Day the Hour appears, that Day the falsifiers will lose. And you will see every nation kneeling; every nation will be called to its record, [and told], 'Today you will be repaid for what you used to do.' This is Our record which speaks concerning you in truth; indeed, We were causing to be recorded whatever you used to do. So to Allah is [due] all praise, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of the worlds. And to Him belongs [all] grandeur within the heavens and the earth, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

• Measure your choices by accountability before Allah, not by public standing or whether anyone notices; every nation faces judgment and every deed is recorded.
• Respond to guidance with belief and righteous action rather than pride or dismissal. The success worth seeking is admission into Allah’s mercy.
• Do not let present comfort make the final meeting seem unimportant. Ridiculing a warning does not remove its consequences.
• Let praise of Allah shape a humble view of yourself: all lordship and grandeur belong to Him, not to worldly power or achievement.
