Healing and protection
Ruqyah is reciting Qur'an and authentic du'ās while asking Allah for healing and protection. Allah describes the Qur'an as “a healing and mercy for the believers” (Qur'an 17:82). The words are a means; healing belongs to Allah alone.
You can recite over yourself or someone else. The Prophet ﷺ recited the protecting sūrahs into his hands, blew lightly into them and wiped his body. He also recited over people who were ill. Read with trust in Allah, without treating a particular result or timetable as guaranteed.
Ruqyah can sit alongside medicine and professional care. If someone is seriously ill, in pain, unsafe, or struggling with their mental health, seek qualified help as well.
