Makkah
The Cave of Ḥirāʾ — the first revelation
This chapter covers about two years, from his ﷺ fortieth year to the return of revelation. It begins with one man worshipping alone in a cave and ends with a small group of believers learning in secret. Nothing public has happened yet: what is being built here is certainty.

Chapter 02 · 612–614
Makkah
Going public — and the persecution
Here the call goes public and Makkah answers. The chapter runs from the announcement on aṣ-Ṣafā through years of mockery, bargaining and torture, the first migration across the sea, and the two conversions that changed the balance in the city.

Chapter 03 · 615–617
Shiʿb Abī Ṭālib, Makkah
The boycott and the Year of Sorrow
This is the chapter of collective punishment and personal loss. Quraysh cut off a whole clan for about three years, and when that failed the Prophet ﷺ lost, in one year, both the wife who believed first and the uncle who shielded him.

Chapter 04 · 617–621
Ṭāʾif, Makkah, Minā
The journey to Ṭāʾif and the Night Journey (al-Isrāʾ)
With no protector left, this chapter takes him ﷺ to his lowest human moment at Ṭāʾif and then to the greatest honour given to any human being. It closes with strangers from Yathrib pledging to protect him, which is how a road out of Makkah appears.

Chapter 05 · 623–627
Madinah
The Hijrah — migration to Madinah
The community becomes a society. This chapter carries the Hijrah, the first mosque, the pairing of migrants with helpers, the charter of the city, and then Badr, Uḥud and the Trench — with revelation now legislating for a people, not only consoling a Prophet ﷺ.

Chapter 06 · 628–633
Ḥudaybiyah, Makkah, ʿArafah
Conquest, completion and farewell
The last five years: a treaty that looked like a defeat, a conquest without revenge, and a farewell. This chapter closes the arc — the religion is completed, the trust is delivered, and the community is left with the Book and the Sunnah.
