Privacy Policy

AyaSeerah is free and there is no advertising, no ad network, and no tracking of you across other sites. You can use everything — reading, study, drills, review, tasbīḥ — without an account, and then nothing you study leaves your device.

There are two optional things that do send data to our servers: pairing two devices with a code, and signing in. Both are off until you choose them, and both are described below in full.

This is how the app works by default. Everything is kept in your browser's own storage on that one device:

• Study progress — scores, review history, spaced-repetition intervals, and study log entries.
• Your place and your marks — where you stopped reading, saved āyāt, favourite sūrahs, notes you write, tasbīḥ counts and reading settings.
• Offline study pack — when you choose to download a surah, its page and the Qur'an.com text are cached in your browser's Cache Storage for offline use.
• Classroom import codes — progress packets and re-practice sets are encoded as strings you can copy and share manually. No class roster is uploaded.

None of this is sent to us. You can save it to a file yourself from the Keep your place page, and you can erase all of it at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

Sync is off unless you start it. When you do, AyaSeerah generates a random pairing code such as AYA-4K7M-2QJD and stores a copy of your study progress against that code on our servers so a second device can pick it up. There is no account, no password, and no name or email attached — only the progress data and the code.

The code is the key: anyone who has it can read and change that progress, so keep it to yourself. Stop syncing and the device goes back to storing everything locally.

You never need an account to study. Signing in exists so your devices find each other without you carrying a code around, and so class notes you choose to share can show who wrote them. You can sign in with Google, or with an email address and a password.

When you sign in, we store:

• Your email address — so the account can be signed into again. With Google sign-in, Google tells us your email address; we never see your Google password.
• A display name, if you give one — used only on class notes you deliberately publish. It is optional and you can leave it blank.
• Your study progress — the same progress described above, linked to your account instead of a code.

We do not store your location, your contacts, or a profile built from your reading. Your account is never sold, shared or used for advertising. You can sign out at any time, which leaves that device using local storage only. If you want your account and everything stored with it deleted, email ayaseerahh@gmail.com and it will be removed.

AyaSeerah does not set its own tracking cookies, and it does not use advertising networks, Google Analytics, or Facebook pixels. No profile of you is built and nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.

On the published site and in the installed app, anonymous product analytics may be recorded to see which pages and study tools are used — for example, page views, whether the app was installed, and whether a drill was completed. These events carry no name, no email, and no content of anything you write or study. Analytics are turned off entirely in previews and local use.

The tasbīḥ counter adds one thing to that: a plain count of how many times a zikr was counted, and on which day, so we can see how much the counter is used overall. If you type your own zikr, the words you typed are never sent — it is recorded only as "other zikr". Your own totals, streaks and history stay on your device as before.

Push notifications are optional and off until you turn them on. If you opt in, your browser or device creates an anonymous subscription endpoint, which is stored so update and new-recitation alerts can be delivered. It is not linked to a name or email. Turning notifications off in the app, or in your device settings, removes the subscription.

The app reads from public, authenticated APIs to load canonical Qur'anic text and ḥadīth:

• Quran.com API — for verified Arabic text and translations. No personal data is sent to Quran.com.
• Ḥadīth API — for cited narrations. You can verify any ḥadīth directly on the Sources page.

These requests are read-only. Your IP address may be visible to those services as with any web request, but no identifying user data is transmitted.

Feedback you submit on the About page is sent to a private review inbox that only the maintainer can read. It holds your message and, if you choose to provide them, your name and an email address for a reply — nothing else. You can ask for anything you sent to be deleted.

Anything you post on the public reflection wall is stored in our database and, once the maintainer approves it, is visible to everyone. If you choose "post anonymously", no name is stored with it. We do not store accounts, IP addresses, or contact details for wall posts. Ask the maintainer and any post will be removed.

AyaSeerah is a study and educational tool intended for learners of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The whole app can be used without an account, which is what we recommend for younger learners; if a child has signed in and you would like that account removed, email ayaseerahh@gmail.com and we will delete it.

If AyaSeerah ever adds a feature that changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the date at the top will change. The app remains committed to storing as little as possible on its own servers, keeping the default experience account-free, and never claiming here anything the app does not actually do.
