The last complete surah revealed to the Prophet ﷺ, announcing the victory of Allāh and the conquest, and people entering the religion of Allāh in multitudes. Rather than a call to celebration alone, it closes with a command to glorify Allāh with praise, seek His forgiveness, and trust in His acceptance of repentance — a surah the senior companions understood as a quiet announcement of the Prophet's ﷺ approaching death.

Occasion & setting
As tribes across Arabia entered Islam in large numbers following the conquest of Makkah, this surah was revealed. Its brevity and structure — victory, then immediate turning to praise and seeking forgiveness rather than triumphalism — was read by the most discerning companions as a sign that the Prophet's ﷺ mission was reaching its completion.
