The tafsīr in brief

The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Knowing — Forgiver of sin, Accepter of repentance, Severe in punishment, Owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination. Those who carry the Throne and those around it exalt their Lord with praise and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed: our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your way.

• Approach this revelation attentively, remembering who sent it. Let Allah's forgiveness encourage repentance and His warning prevent complacency.
• Do not measure truth by its opponents' wealth or influence. Earlier messengers faced rejection too, and temporary success did not protect their opponents from judgment.
• When faith feels lonely, remember that unseen angels ask forgiveness for believers. Respond to this encouragement by repenting and following Allah's way.
• Make your prayers for loved ones larger than immediate comfort: ask for righteousness, lasting life together in the Gardens and protection from the consequences of wrongdoing.

Those who disbelieved will be told: the hatred of Allah for you when you were called to faith and you disbelieved was greater than your hatred of yourselves now. They will say: our Lord, You have caused us to die twice and given us life twice, and now we admit our sins, so is there any way out? Warn them of the Day of the Approaching, when hearts will rise into the throats, choking them, and the wrongdoers will have no close friend and no intercessor who is obeyed. Allah knows the deceit of the eyes and what the hearts conceal. He judges in truth, while those they call upon besides Him cannot judge anything. Have they not travelled the earth and seen how those before them ended, though they were stronger and left more behind them? Allah seized them for their sins, and they had no protector against Allah.

• Respond to Allah’s signs while you can: turn back to Him and keep worship sincere rather than delaying until regret or seeking other people’s approval.
• Read revelation as preparation for meeting Allah. Review what you are earning through your choices, knowing that neither hidden deeds nor injustice will be overlooked.
• Let accountability shape private conduct as well as public behaviour. Allah knows what people cannot see, and no imagined helper can replace His truthful judgement.
• Do not mistake strength, impressive buildings, or an enduring legacy for protection from accountability. Learn from earlier nations by responding to evidence rather than relying on status.

And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said: do you kill a man because he says my Lord is Allah, while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And he who believed said: O my people, follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct. And you will remember what I say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed Allah is Seeing of His servants. So Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment.

• Do not confuse influence with evidence. When accusations become threats, the believer models a clear challenge to injustice rather than agreement with the powerful.
• Let accountability interrupt complacency. Present success and familiar traditions do not excuse rejecting clear proof; earlier peoples offer warnings worth hearing.
• Judge guidance by where it leads, not how impressive it looks. Choose faith and righteous action for the lasting home over displays of power that protect only temporary interests.
• Be clear about false worship without closing the invitation to repentance. The believer calls even his opponents to the Almighty who continually forgives.
• Do what is right and entrust the outcome to Allah. This believer's rescue and his opponents' punishment show that those who threaten others do not control their final fate.

And your Lord says: call upon Me; I will respond to you. Indeed those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell in humiliation. He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, sincere to Him in religion. Praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

• Choose whom you follow by the truth they bring, not their status. Misleading leaders cannot carry your accountability, while Allah’s support is promised to His messengers and believers.
• Let revealed guidance shape your response to opposition: practise patience, seek forgiveness, praise Allah regularly, and seek His protection instead of answering pride with pride.
• Let certainty about the coming judgment move you toward righteous action and humble prayer now. Calling upon Allah is an invitation to worship, not something beneath your dignity.
• Turn ordinary blessings—rest, daylight, shelter, and food—into occasions for gratitude and sincere devotion to their Creator alone.
• Do not postpone turning to Allah until a later stage of life. Your lifespan is not yours to guarantee; reflect on your dependence on the One who gives life and causes death.

And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign except by permission of Allah. So when they saw Our punishment, they said: we believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him. But their faith did not benefit them when they saw Our punishment — the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants, and the disbelievers thereupon lost all.

• Do not let pride turn engagement with revelation into an argument against it. The passage exposes both the cost of arrogant denial and the helplessness of the partners people trusted.
• Remain patient without demanding control over signs or outcomes. Allah’s promise is true even when its fulfilment is not yet visible to you.
• Let familiar benefits lead to gratitude and recognition of Allah. Food, useful animals and transport are signs to notice, not merely conveniences to use.
• Hold knowledge and achievement with humility. Neither impressive resources nor confidence in what you know makes guidance unnecessary.
• Respond to the truth while there is still opportunity. Do not treat a declaration made only at the sight of divine punishment as a rescue plan.
