Zayd ibn Ḥārithah رضي الله عنه

زيد بن حارثة

Freed by the Prophet ﷺ and raised in his house; the only companion named by name in the Qur'an.

Where they appear

1. The Cave of Ḥirāʾ — the first revelation

   Among the very first to believe, from inside the household.

2. The journey to Ṭāʾif and the Night Journey (al-Isrāʾ)

   Went with him ﷺ to Ṭāʾif and shielded him from the stones on the way out.

3. Conquest, completion and farewell

   Commanded at Mu'tah and was killed there.

How it ended

Killed at Mu'tah in 8 AH, the first commander of that expedition.
