The tafsīr in brief

When the sky splits open and duly obeys its Lord — as it must — and when the earth is stretched out, casts out what is within it and empties itself, and duly obeys its Lord — as it must.

• Do not measure Allah's power by what seems possible in everyday life. Even the sky and earth will change at His command.
• Let the earth's release of the dead challenge any habit of living as though death ends your responsibility.
• Use creation's obedience as a reason to examine your own response to Allah: where can you replace resistance with willing obedience?

The tafsīr in brief

O man, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. Then whoever is given his record in his right hand will have an easy account and return to his people rejoicing; but whoever is given his record behind his back will call for destruction and burn in a blazing fire, because he had lived among his people in happiness [heedless of the Hereafter] and thought he would never return [to Allah] — yet indeed, his Lord was ever, of him, Seeing.

• Give your daily effort a conscious direction. Being busy does not change your destination; remember that your striving leads toward meeting Allah.
• Measure success beyond immediate results. These verses place lasting hope in a favorable reckoning and the happiness that follows it.
• Let the warning about the record shape choices now, rather than waiting until regret arrives with the consequences.
• Do not mistake a comfortable life for freedom from accountability. Enjoyment must not become a reason to forget your return to the Lord who sees you.

The tafsīr in brief

Allah swears by the twilight, the night and what it gathers, and the moon when it becomes full, that mankind will surely ride from stage to stage (ṭabaqan ʿan ṭabaq). So what is [the matter] with them that they do not believe, and when the Qur'an is recited to them, do not prostrate?

• Let familiar changes in the evening sky remind you that your present condition is not your final one.
• Plan beyond the next stage of worldly life. Your journey also includes resurrection and reckoning, so preparation for meeting Allah belongs among today's priorities.
• When resurrection seems unfamiliar, reflect on the changes you have already undergone rather than treating unfamiliarity as a reason to reject it.
• Hear the Qur'an as a call to believe and submit, not merely as words to listen to without responding.

The tafsīr in brief

But those who disbelieve deny, while Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. So give them tidings of a painful punishment, except those who believe and do righteous deeds — for them is a reward without end.

• Examine both your response to the truth and the attitudes you keep private; an outward appearance cannot hide inner hostility from Allah.
• Take denial of accountability seriously rather than treating it as a position without consequences.
• Read the warning together with the promise: let it awaken concern without overlooking the hope offered to believers.
• Put belief into practice through righteous deeds, drawing encouragement from the promise of reward that does not end.
