The tafsīr in brief

Certainly will the believers have succeeded: those who are humble in their prayer, who turn away from ill speech, who pay zakāh, who guard their private parts save from their spouses, who are true to their trusts and covenants, and who carefully maintain their prayers. These are the inheritors who will inherit al-Firdaws, abiding therein eternally.

• Measure achievement by the lasting success Allah promises, not only by immediate recognition or gain. Let the hope of al-Firdaws shape everyday priorities.
• Give prayer both attention and protection: work on being present within it as well as carefully maintaining it throughout your life.
• Make faith visible in ordinary dealings: leave harmful or empty talk, fulfil financial obligations, and be dependable with what others entrust to you.
• Treat chastity as respect for defined boundaries. Read the command, its exceptions, and its warning together rather than using one part to ignore another.

The tafsīr in brief

We created man from an extract of clay, then placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging, then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, then made the clot into a lump, then made the lump into bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, then produced him as another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.

• Remember your humble beginnings when pride appears. Neither your origin in clay nor your development in the womb was your own achievement.
• Let reflection on your formation lead to gratitude: the passage moves from the security of the womb through development to praise of Allah.
• Value hearing, sight, and reason as gifts, rather than measuring human life only by its physical form.
• When resurrection seems difficult to imagine, reflect on your first creation: the One who formed human life can bring it back.

The tafsīr in brief

Then indeed, after that you are to die. Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.

• Let the certainty of death keep you from treating your time in this life as unlimited.
• When thinking about resurrection, connect it to the Creator's power already shown in human creation.
• Make room in today's priorities for the return to Allah: resurrection is a definite appointment, not a remote possibility.

We sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth, and We are able to take it away. With it We produce for you gardens of palms and grapes. In the cattle too is a lesson: We give you to drink from what is in their bellies, and you have many benefits from them, and upon them and upon ships you are carried.

• Let the scale of the heavens and the measured provision of water remind you that familiar surroundings are not outside Allah's knowledge and care.
• At a meal, look beyond the finished food: remember the water and growth behind it, and thank Allah for making nourishment available.
• Do not treat access to usable water as guaranteed. Remembering that Allah can take it away turns an ordinary drink into an occasion for gratitude.
• Extend gratitude beyond what you eat and drink to the means that carry you and support your livelihood.

We sent Nūḥ to his people; he said, worship Allah, you have no deity other than Him. The leaders among his disbelieving people said he was only a man like themselves seeking superiority, and that if Allah willed He would have sent angels. Nūḥ prayed for help, and Allah commanded him to build the ark and to load upon it a pair of every kind, and his family except those already doomed.

• Consider a call to truth on its substance. Accusations about a speaker's motives, social standing, or unfamiliar message can become ways to avoid listening.
• Bring hardship to Allah in prayer while taking the means He provides. Nūḥ's appeal for help was followed by instructions to build a strong ship.
• Recognize practical means as part of Allah's care, not a rival to reliance on Him. The ark preserved life through the means He decreed.
• Meet a fresh beginning with gratitude, prayer, and reflection. Thank Allah for rescue, ask for blessing ahead, and learn from the tests you have witnessed.

Then We produced after Nūḥ's people other generations. We sent among them a messenger, but the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and to whom We had given comfort in this life, said he was only a man like themselves, eating what they eat and drinking what they drink, and that if they obeyed a man like themselves they would surely be losers. So the cry seized them in truth, and We made them as debris; away with the wrongdoing people. Then We sent Our messengers in succession; every time a messenger came to a nation, they denied him, so We made them follow one another to destruction and turned them into narrations. Away with a people who do not believe.

• Judge a call by its truth, not by the speaker's worldly status. The chiefs treated obedience as a loss, even though the messenger called them to worship Allah alone.
• Do not confuse forceful dismissal with a sound answer. The chiefs mocked resurrection and accused the messenger, but their confidence did not establish that his warning was false.
• Take warnings seriously before regret replaces the opportunity to respond. This account connects stubborn rejection with a just consequence, not lasting security.
• Read the histories of earlier nations as lessons for your own choices. Their passing reminds us that available time is limited, and their stories invite learning rather than repeating their rejection.

Then We sent Mūsā and his brother Hārūn, with Our signs and clear authority, to Firʿawn and his chiefs, but they behaved arrogantly and were a haughty people. They said, shall we believe two men like ourselves while their people serve us? So they denied them and were among those destroyed. And We certainly gave Mūsā the Scripture. And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign, and We sheltered them on high ground, level and having flowing water.

• Judge a message by its evidence, not by the social position of the person bringing it. Pride can make clear guidance seem beneath us.
• Do not mistake power over others for protection from accountability. Firʿawn’s leaders could dominate a people but could not prevent their own destruction.
• Approach Scripture as guidance for how to live, including what to do and what to avoid, rather than merely something to possess.
• Notice practical provision as part of Allah’s care: a secure place to rest and access to water are meaningful blessings.

O messengers, eat from the good things and act righteously. And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. But they divided their religion among themselves into sects, each faction rejoicing in what it had.

• Make lawful provision serve obedience: consider both how you obtain your food and what good it helps you do.
• Measure religious loyalty by the messengers’ shared worship of One Lord, not by pride in belonging to a faction.
• Do not let continued comfort silence self-examination. Being left for a time and receiving worldly gifts do not establish that your understanding is right.

Indeed, those who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord, and those who believe in the signs of their Lord, and those who do not associate anything with their Lord, and those who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they are returning to their Lord — it is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip others therein. And We do not charge a soul except with that within its capacity, and with Us is a record that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. But their hearts are in confusion over this, and they have deeds besides that which they are doing.

• Let faith shape both your attitude and your worship: take Allah’s signs seriously, worship Him alone, and do not let good deeds become a source of complacency.
• Concern about acceptance should accompany continued effort. Keep giving and pursuing good rather than waiting until you feel certain of yourself.
• Strive within your capacity and trust Allah’s justice. His commands do not demand the impossible, and no good deed disappears from His record.
• Respond to guidance before a crisis forces you to seek help. Neither comfort nor the approval of companions in mocking conversations protects someone who turns away from Allah’s verses.

Until, when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they cry out. It is said: Do not cry out today; you will not be helped from Us. Our verses were recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels, arrogant, conversing by night, speaking evil nonsense. Say: To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it? Say: To whom belong the seven heavens and the Lord of the Great Throne? They will say, to Allah — so say, then will you not fear Him? And say: My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils, and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me.

• Approach revelation willing to be corrected. Reflect on its message instead of making personal preference, accusations, or excuses the measure of truth.
• Let both hardship and blessings turn you toward Allah: pray humbly, give thanks, and think about His power rather than repeating inherited dismissals of the Hereafter.
• Make your worship consistent with your belief. Acknowledging that Allah owns, rules, protects, and knows all things calls for devotion to Him without partners.
• When facing hostility, ask Allah for safety, respond with what is best, and seek His protection from harmful incitements instead of trusting your own self-control alone.

Until when death comes to one of them, he says: My Lord, send me back that I may do righteousness in what I left behind — but no, it is only a word he speaks. Then when the trumpet is blown, no relations will be among them that Day. And those whose scales are heavy are successful, but those whose scales are light have lost their souls, abiding in Hell forever, the Fire scorching their faces.

• Act on regret while you can still change. Do not postpone repairing a wrong until an imagined second chance.
• Take responsibility for your own deeds rather than relying on family standing. Success before Allah is not inherited.
• Give attention to sincerity, not just the length of your list of good deeds. A small action should not be dismissed simply because it is small.
• Let the warning of lasting loss and suffering make accountability a serious concern in your daily choices.

Were not My verses recited to you, and you used to deny them? They will say, our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us, and we were a people astray. Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we return to wrongdoing then indeed we are wrongdoers. He will say, remain despised therein and do not speak to Me. He will say, how long did you remain on earth in number of years? They will say, we remained a day or part of a day; ask those who keep count. He will say, you stayed not but a little, if only you had known.

• Respond to guidance now rather than postponing change: this scene shows people admitting their failure when their request for another chance is no longer accepted.
• Choose humble prayer over ridicule. Ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy, and guard against treating another person’s faith as entertainment that distracts you from remembering Him.
• Measure success by Allah’s reward, not by whether others admire you. Patient faith matters even when it attracts mockery.
• Let your lasting purpose shape your limited time. The brevity of worldly life is a reason to prioritise obedience, not a reason to neglect it.

Did you think that We created you uselessly and that you would not be returned to Us? So exalted is Allah, the True King; there is no deity except Him. And whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof, his account is only with his Lord. Say: My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful.

• Let your purpose shape your priorities: make room for worship and obedience rather than treating this short life as all that matters.
• Direct worship to Allah alone. The passage joins His sole right to worship with a warning against invoking other deities without proof.
• Measure success by your standing before Allah, not merely by what appears successful during earthly life.
• Turn reflection on accountability into humble prayer rather than despair: ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy.
