Why Allah uses this name
Sūrat Āl ʿImrān states it as an act of the Owner of all dominion — 'You honour whom You will' — which Ibn Kathīr reads as a refusal of every other source of standing.
Take this with you
Seek honour where it is actually kept: with Allah, not in the estimation of people.
'You honour (tuʿizzu) whom You will and You humble whom You will; in Your hand is all good' (3:26).
Qurʾān 3:26; the name itself listed in Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3507 (the enumeration of the ninety-nine names)
