Aḍ-Ḍārr ٱلضَّآرّ
The One who allows harm to reach whom He wills, by His decree and wisdom.
Reported in the list of ninety-nine · root ض ر ر
Why Allah uses this name
The Qurʾān states that if Allah touches you with harm none can remove it but He; the enumeration lists the name alongside , and Al-Saʿdī insists the two are read as a pair, never alone.
Take this with you
Take harm to the only One who can lift it, instead of to whoever seems to have caused it.
'And if Allah should touch you with harm, there is no remover of it except Him' (6:17).
Qurʾān 6:17; the name itself listed in Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3507 (the enumeration of the ninety-nine names)
Where it appears in the Qur'an
This name is reported in the list of ninety-nine, but the Qur'an says it as a verb or a phrase rather than as this single word, so there is no word-for-word occurrence to list. The reasoning above cites the āyāt it is taken from.
