Why Allah uses this name
Ibn Kathīr notes it is paired with responsiveness as much as with knowledge: He hears the complaint, the duʿāʾ and the slander alike, and answers each in its own way.

Say it to Him. The hearing is not in doubt; only your asking is.
ʿĀʾishah رضي الله عنها said: Praise be to Allah whose hearing encompasses all voices — the woman disputing about her husband was speaking while I could not hear all of it, and Allah revealed 'Allah has heard' (58:1).
