Oneness and permanence
Al-Bāqī ٱلْبَاقِى
The Everlasting: the One who remains when everything else has passed away.
Reported in the list of ninety-nine · root ب ق ي
Why Allah uses this name
Sūrat states that everyone upon the earth will perish and only the Face of your Lord remains; the enumeration lists the name for that remaining.
Take this with you
Invest in what remains. Everything else has an expiry stated in the āyah.
'Everyone upon it will perish, and there will remain (yabqā) the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honour' (55:26–27).
Qurʾān 55:26–27; the name itself listed in Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3507 (the enumeration of the ninety-nine names)
Where it appears in the Qur'an
This name is reported in the list of ninety-nine, but the Qur'an says it as a verb or a phrase rather than as this single word, so there is no word-for-word occurrence to list. The reasoning above cites the āyāt it is taken from.
