Why Allah uses this name
Al-Saʿdī notes it is regularly joined to al-Ghanī: He is free of need and still deserving of praise — so praise is for His perfection, not payment for services.
Take this with you
Praise Him when you have received nothing new today.
'O mankind, you are the ones in need of Allah, and Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy' (35:15).
