Why Allah uses this name
The Qurʾān points to rain reviving dead land as the visible proof of the invisible promise, and names Him the giver of life in the same breath.
Take this with you
A dead heart, like dead ground, revives only when He sends what revives it. Ask Him for that.
'So observe the effects of the mercy of Allah — how He gives life (yuḥyī) to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed, that is the giver of life to the dead' (30:50).
Qurʾān 30:50; the name itself listed in Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3507 (the enumeration of the ninety-nine names)
