Reported in the list of ninety-nine · root ق ب ض
Why Allah uses this name
The Qurʾān states the act as a — He withholds and He grants in plenty — and the name is listed in the enumeration; Al-Saʿdī reads the pair as one wisdom, not two moods.
Take this with you
When something is held back from you, read it as measured by wisdom rather than as neglect.
'And it is Allah who withholds (yaqbiḍu) and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned' (2:245).
Qurʾān 2:245; the name itself listed in Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3507 (the enumeration of the ninety-nine names)
Where it appears in the Qur'an
This name is reported in the list of ninety-nine, but the Qur'an says it as a verb or a phrase rather than as this single word, so there is no word-for-word occurrence to list. The reasoning above cites the āyāt it is taken from.
